Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme
In the Plant Kingdom these four herbs are relatives from way back, but sage, rosemary, and thyme are very close relatives. Parsley takes a turn in its evolution early on and does its own thing. Just so happens I really like parsley, and have honest respect for its diversity, but today I’m going to concentrate on sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Clary Sage is considered a balancing oil. It is known for its calming properties and benefits to the skin, and inhaling its aroma promotes relaxation and restful sleep. If you want to do some research on what makes Clary Sage so special on a more scientific level look up linalyl acetate, part of the esters group. Better yet google “Infographic: Table of Esters and their Smells” buy a guy named James Kennedy, jameskennedymonash.wordpress.com. If you are anything like me and appreciate getting an education from pictures, you’re going to like this! Clary Sage is a mood changer, feeling down or tense? You need Clary Sage.
Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub. One of my all-time favorites things to grow. I think it is a beautiful plant and whenever I’m near enough to a rosemary shrub I can’t stop myself from picking a sprig, rubbing it in my palms, and inhaling this wonderful thing. I find it energizing and relaxing at the same time. Yesterday when I returned home from work my very first bottle of doTerra Rosemary oil was waiting for me on the porch. I wish I could share its essence with you. Today it is my favorite, of course tomorrow my favorite will probably be the next bottle of oil that I open for the first time! I have Rosemary and Lime (yes, lime, not thyme) in my diffuser now and I can feel the tension of my day leaving my body, and it feels good!
Thyme. I am excited about thyme! If for no other reason than the following description doTerra has on thyme: “Thought to impart courage to its bearer, Thyme was given to knights and warriors before they went into battle by ladies of the Middle Ages. During this same period, Thyme was often placed beneath pillows to help promote a peaceful sleep and to ward off nightmares. The ancient Greeks used Thyme in their baths and burned it as an incense in their temples while the Egyptians used it in their embalming rites,” this has got to be a powerful oil! I have not yet tried it, and it is high Thyme I did! It is on my next LRP order, soon to be my favorite-for-today oil.
